Greetings!

We had a good time representing our Club at the Sylva Christmas Parade last Saturday. The Tooth Fairies joined us and gave out tooth brushes and toothpaste to the children. Thank you to the following Rotarians who came out: Kenny Nicholson, Tavish Panozzo (and Thatcher), Phil Haire, Jim Montsinger, and Ron Rhodes. Also a big thank you to Larry Hinton for loaning two trucks for the parade.

Our program this week is Kimmie Rogers, District Polio Chair, who will be talking about Polio Plus.  This will be the last regular scheduled meeting in December.

Greeter this week is Matt Saenger.

Our Christmas Party will be December 15 at the Comfort Inn Banquet Room in Sylva. The social begins at 5:30 pm. Bogarts will be catering the holiday meal. Music will be provided by Steve Johannessen. Please sign up this week if you plan to attend. Cost is $12 for those who are not on the meal plan and for guests. Remember, if you would like to donate for the “spirits” please bring money for Jennifer Dirkes this week.

The deadline for registering for the International Conference at a discounted rate is quickly approaching. Here is the list from the District of club members who are registered so far: Karen & Kenny Nicholson, Peggy Wike, Jennifer Dirkes, Eddie Wells, Polly Colville, Richard Collings, and Margaret Agee. Why not join us!

Please see the following information from District Governor Gary Dills about the upcoming International Conference:

10-14 June 2017, Atlanta, Georgia (our backyard)

Go to www.riconvention.org to register

If you are not one of the 325 District 7670 Rotarians going to the RI International Convention in Atlanta next June, this note is for you!!!!

IF you register by 15 December 2016, the registration rate is $340 (it increases to $415 the next day).  You can bring a Rotaractor for $70 and a Youth Exchange student/Interactor for $10.

I provided your club president with a list showing who is registered from your club.  PLEASE NOTE that 29 registrants opted not to authorize inclusion on this list. IF YOU REGISTERED and your name is not on that list, I suggest you check the website to make sure you are registered.  Also, 11 registrants have not paid although you may think you did – check it out please.

WHY should you attend the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Rotary Foundation and the Convention?  You will meet the most inspiring people in the world.  You can strengthen your club and your passion for Rotary -- find new ideas, learn best practices, and share project successes — it’s where the Rotary world comes together!  You can enjoy a variety of activities --  See all the activities planned.  You can enjoy special tours and events -- like Restaurant Night, Host Hospitality Night, a screening of "Gone with the Wind" at the historic Fox Theatre -- Visit the Host Organization Committee site to learn more.

Yours in Rotary Service,

Eddie

Our Tooth Fairies from the Blue Ridge Dental Clinic stole the show! It was a great day to be a Rotarian. Enjoy the pictures!

Remember that an easy way to do a make-up for a missed meeting is our Podcasts page on the Web at http://podcast.sylvarotaryclub.org. Click on the button underneath the photo of any of the speakers (it looks like the forward "arrow" button you'd see on most CD or DVD players), and your computer should start to play the presentation on your computer's speaker. THANKS to Scott Baker for creating and maintaining that page!
